Movie Review: My Dog Dou Dou

It's such a great honor again to receive invitation to the preview screening of My Dog Dou Dou by Newskaki
When you see this poster, do you think it looks like Korean movie poster?

You know when I see the movie title and the poster it really gives me an Korean movie impression. I have never seen such poster design in any Singaporean movie. OK lets start the synopsis.

Synopsis:

This is a warm, feel-good fantasy-action drama about a gambler father and his estranged son, and how a dog with predictive powers brings them closer together. Through their ups and downs, the father, Meng, discovers the meaning of altruistic love and loyalty, and the son, Xing, finally finds the father he has always been looking for.

.
Surprise to see Henry Thia in this movie.

My personal experience for this movie is really unforgettable. This is really a comedy, touching and sad movie. I really like Flapper, the canine actor. It's really a talented dog and I really like this movie. I'm giving 4 out of 5 for this movie. You all should go to watch this movie. Highly recommended.

Cast:

Jason Wong (Meng)
Ivan Lo (Xing)
Flapper

Ghost On Air Gala Premiere @ Pavilion

I'm so surprised to receive invitation from Newskaki to attend the gala premiere of Ghost On Air at Pavilion.

I was told that there's a contest run by RAM Entertainment. You'll just need to take a picture with 2 ghost which will be appeared in various location, upload it into their Facebook fans page and give a creative caption for chance to win Audio Technica PROdeejay worth RM 332 and other prizes.
So exciting sure I won't be missing the chance. Since the movie start at 9pm while the ghost is there at 8pm, me and my friend had grab the chance to take the picture with them.

Don't look horror at all, more to cute posing haha.

I'm actually never put any high expectation on Singaporean and Malaysian movie because we're still unable to compete the movie effect like US or Hong Kong. Let's start the synopsis and review.

Synopsis: Ping Xiao, a two time “Most Popular DJ” award winner, is suddenly robbed of his successful morning show slot. Jealous at seeing a younger DJ taking his place, he forces himself to conquer painful recurring memories of his deceased girlfriend and tells the ghost stories that was written by her on air. With each painful memory he endures, he regains a small step to his superstardom. However, as he is about to claim his reward, he begins to realize that the stories were not works of fiction, and maybe it wasn’t him telling the stories all along…

Movie Review:
Ghost On Air tells the story of Ping Xiao (Dennis Chew), a two-time “Most Popular DJ” award winner, who was suddenly removed from his primetime show in the morning after a scandal. Threatened by a young uprising starlet DJ Pauline (Eunice Olsen) usurping his position as the top DJ in the radio station. Ping Xiao forced himself to conquer his fear and painful memories of his recently deceased girlfriend, Jia Yi (Gan Mei Yan) by telling ghost stories written by her on air during the graveyard time slots. As he slowly regains his popularity, he begins to realize that not all the stories are works of fiction and decides to investigate by tracing back the path taken by his girlfriend. As he gets closer to the truth, something else also gets closer to him.

Ghost On Air is really not up to my expectation. The scene doesn't seems linked to each other. Ping Xiao's gf's friend, Xiao Ru appeared with meaningless. Who is that girl who'd told her story to Ping Xiao? In all, Ghost On Air is kinda terrifying but with a lot of unexplained scene. However the sound effect and some disgusting scene do really frights me. My personal favorite will be Ping Xiao's voice because he really have a nice voice which speaks so clear. You hardly tells he's actually Aunty Lucy. Thus my ratings will be 3 out of 5 not really a bad movie for me but not as good as others too. The release date for this movie is 14 June 2012.

Anyhow such an honor to represents Newskaki to attend this event. Would really looking forward any exciting events coming up soon.

Twisted Love Gala Premiere @ The Curve

I'm really delighted to receive invitation from Newskaki to attend Twisted Love Gala Premiere at The Curve 8pm 19/04/2012. I have posted the synopsis here.

After I have exchanged for the gala premiere pass from the print out, I headed to upstairs and surprised that they even served some light dinner for us. I happened yet to take my dinner so this is just nice for me.

These are really nice foods.

About 8.30pm, the event about to start. The host is actually the 8TV host, Jason which really create a happening environment even before the movie cast arrived.

The first actor arrived is Alvin Wong which I'm sure most of us familiar with him.

Then, the supporting actress, Joey Leong, Candy Ice and director, Chai Yee Wei reached.

Finally, Mark Lee and Mimi Zhu arrived.

This is the first time I get to meet Mark Lee in person and I'm so surprised that he look way more good looking than in movie/TV. A picture with the boss before they start the movie.

I didn't give high expectation as I thought it maybe boring. But with the marvelous acting by the cast especially Mark Lee and Mimi Zhu. I really can't stop my laughing along the movie. This is a movie combination of comedy and horror. There is total 3 parts of the stories.

My personal preference will be 1st and 3rd part by Mark Lee and Mimi Zhu. Both experienced artist having really good performance but still keep the sense of humor. Special highlight on Joey Leong as I think she handled her character as Mimi Zhu's daughter well also.

There's only 1 part I couldn't understand when Alvin Wong's partner fighting with Mimi Zhu then the scene have jumped to Alvin Wong's part. Then it doesn't really tell what happened to them later. It makes me feel confused as I'm still expecting some explanation on their part to complete the whole movie. This leaves me some doubt whether some scene have been edited for the release. I will rate this for 3.5 out of 5 due to the missing part. Else I could rate higher at least I don't feel blur after watching this movie.

Anyhow this is still a highly recommended movie. If you're looking for comedy horror film, this is just right for you. Of course you may just ignore the lost part I have highlighted just now. The release date for Twisted Love is 26/04/2012.

Twisted Love

Twisted is the latest horror action comedy from Writer Director Chai Yee Wei.

Comprising of actors from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, this film is a collaboration of some of the best comedic and acting talents from around this region.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around a drug dealer who banged up a young girl, a pair of con men who wants to turn over a new leaf, and 4 cabin crews whose lives were turned upside down over a fateful night of drugs and booze. This is a story of individuals with fates intertwined and how their paths clash. A series of twisted events that is both a study on cause and effect, and how our actions affect the people around us.

I'm certainly looking forward for this movie with my favorite Singapore actor, Mark Lee.
